Johan Sverdrup Phase 2 construction begun
20 June 2019
Back in 2017, we wrote about the first phase of the Johan Sverdrup development. While it is nearing the finish line with plans to start production later this year, construction for the second phase has now begun.
For Stalatube, the initiation of Phase 2 means a continued cooperation as we set out to deliver structural duplex tubes for the new processing platform (P2). Stalatube’s duplex tubes are widely used as secondary structures for topside applications such as pipe supports and skids.
The material is 100 % recyclable and increases sustainability anywhere it is used. This is potentiated by duplex’s high strength – that enables weight-savings – and not having to coat or paint the surfaces.
Johan Sverdrup development is one of the largest oil fields in the North Sea. Phase 2 will increase the production capacity of the entire field by about 200,000 barrels per day, totaling circa 660,000 barrels per day.
